Calling all 18+ actors, singers, dancers, musicians, composers, writers and directors !
Given the strong positive response to our first-ever etc. Ambassadors show “Catalyst”, and based on responses from both that cast and others, we have decided to hold a summer ’17 show – and we’d LOVE to have YOUR talents on our team!
This time around, we’re going to be crafting, composing, rehearsing and producing ‘Shoulda Woulda Coulda: Or, What I’d Tell Young Me’.
Our next show is going to be a sometimes raunchy, sometimes tender, always hilarious comedy … and that’s all we know right now. We need YOU to help us fill in the blanks!
Whether you are looking to perform in this new show, are hoping to join us behind the scenes as part of the creative team, or looking to dabble in both, the etc. Ambassadors ensemble is here for you. Come audition!
1. Audition date/time/location:
Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 4th between 4-8 P.M. in Suite 213 of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.

Audition requirements below:
FOR POTENTIAL CAST MEMBERS:
The audition will consist of a monologue reading provided at the audition, as well as a prepared 32-bar selection of your choosing. The musical selection chosen may be of any style/genre, but keep in mind that we will be looking to do a comedy this time around, so upbeat and/or comic numbers preferred!
FOR POTENTIAL WRITERS/CREATIVE TEAM:
The audition will require you to bring in a sample monologue of your own creation, which will then be read by actors at the audition. If you are auditioning to be considered as a director of scenes as well, you will also be asked to quickly stage a short one-page monologue at the audition. Potential composers should prepare one song of their own composition for the audition; they may perform or provide sheet music for a provided accompanist.
If you wish to be a part of this ensemble and absolutely CANNOT make the June 4th audition date, don’t worry – we will accept e-mailed taped auditions as well! Just e-mail director Mike O’Mara at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Regular rehearsals:
Due to a shortened schedule for summer, and knowing that we’re all busy with work/school/life demands, we’re going to have 4 potential meeting times each week!
We will have rehearsal availability each week on Wednesdays, 11-1 P.M., Wednesdays, 6-8 P.M., Fridays, 11-1 P.M. and Fridays, 6-8 P.M.!
Each week, we’ll take a poll as to everyone’s availability, and set our rehearsal process off of those (i.e., set who gets called when for what based on when everyone can come).
Everyone (cast and creative) will be REQUIRED to make at least one rehearsal a week, plus our tech. week/shows – and if an artist wishes to be a part of the writing, composing and/or directing team as well, they will be required to come more often as needed to complete those duties. This setup also allows for any member of our cast who wishes more coaching/rehearsal time to have the opportunity each week to get it!
Rehearsals will be held in Suite 213 of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center in Evanston, and will begin on Wednesday, June 7th.
3. Tech. week/performances:
July 24 through July 27 will be our tech. week. We should plan to meet for 3-4 hours each evening that Monday–Thursday, most likely 6-10 P.M.
We’re looking at the following for a performance schedule:
Friday July 28: 7 P.M.
Saturday July 29: 2 P.M. and 7 P.M.
Sunday July 30: 2 P.M.
Again, if you are passionate about auditioning and being a part of this ensemble but something in the above doesn’t work perfectly for you, let us know and let’s see if we can work it out!
There will be a fee associated with this program. This fee will go towards paying our professional etc. staff (director/assistant director/choreographer), paying for materials (printing of scores/scripts, prop/costume items, etc.), and to help pay the rent on our studio space this summer.
The fee for this session will be $250.00 a person.
However, in cases of financial need, this fee may be alleviated by working towards the balance through assisting with other needs at etc. Music School this summer.
